Ambassadors for Just & Sustainable Agriculture

Ambassadors for Just & Sustainable Agriculture

Toxic Free NC's Ambassadors are regular people who share their passion for just and sustainable agriculture.

By sharing their stories, Ambassadors help to advance important policy initiatives in our state, aimed at expanding local organic farming and protecting farm workers from pesticide poisoning.

We want to help you make your voice heard for just and sustainable farming in North Carolina.

Thanks in large part to concerned citizens like you, Toxic Free NC has been able to win important legislation to protect farm workers from pesticides. Early in 2008, people all around the state sat down to meet with their representatives to share their concerns and ideas about protecting farmworkers from pesticides. This year, we'll be helping to bring more important legislation on farm worker health and safety, as well as legislation on sustainable agriculture to the NC General Assembly.

You can help us lay the groundwork for future victories. Toxic Free NC can help you to arrange and prepare for a meeting with one of your state representatives together with a small group of like-minded people in your legislative district. You don't need any particular experience or expertise - just your own passion for farming that respects the environment and human health.

Ambassadors are regular people from all walks of life - students, professionals, retirees, and everyone in between - who are personally committed to just and sustianable agriculture. By sharing their stories, Ambassadors put a real face on the issues, and demonstrate to state policy makers how reforms will benefit voters in their district.

Ambassadors can advocate for Toxic Free NC's work in several different ways:

1. Organize citizen meetings with their representatives, as discussed above.

2. Share their just & sustainable agriculture story with the press, at a public hearing, or in a documentary format.

3. Bring information about Toxic Free NC's work to gatherings in their communities. Ambassadors can get free copies of our materials to share, and can invite Toxic Free NC to speak as part of a gathering in their community.

4. Host a house party for Toxic Free NC, sharing information about our work and helping us meet new people in your community.
