| As the end of the 2011 state legislative session nears, big polluters have been pushing hard for a massive rollback of environmental standards in North Carolina.
With only days left to go, major anti-environmental bills are being pushed through by the legislative majority with little to no debate.
One “poster child” stands out as a drastic attack on the environment with long-lasting consequences:
SB 781, the “Regulatory Reform Act” would bring key state protections down to the federal minimum requirements, a move only big polluters can love.
The bill adds several new layers of bureaucracy to any effort to change state environmental regulations, miring the rule-making process in even more red tape and making it harder than ever for the public to participate in a democratic process.
Check out these wicked flow charts from the NC Conservation Network illustrating what “reform” will look like if SB 781 becomes law.
Call the Governor and urge her to stand strong against attacks on what makes North Carolina unique and beautiful.
We will not be a more attractive state for jobs or tourism with dirty air, polluted water, or unhealthy people.
Take Action today!
