Every day, 127 North Carolinians are diagnosed with cancer.
Tell President Obama to protect us from cancer-causing toxic chemicals.

February is Cancer Prevention Month. That’s why we're asking President Obama to make a simple, but lasting act to improve the lives of millions of Americans: stop cancer-causing toxic chemicals.

Take Action: Tell President Obama it’s time to protect us from toxic chemicals that can cause cancer!

Did you know that it’s perfectly legal for manufacturers to add toxic chemicals to the products we use everyday in our homes, schools and workplaces? Last year, the President’s Cancer Panel reported that exposure to these toxic chemicals is an important risk factor for cancer.

That’s why we need President Obama to use the power of his office to support an overhaul of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).

TSCA reform would revamp the outdated and ineffective regulations that allow more than 80,000 toxic chemicals to be added to our clothing, furniture, cosmetics, children’s toys, cleaning products and more.

Take Action: Tell President Obama that you want him to support TSCA reform to protect us from exposure to toxic chemicals. Sign our petition today!

Take Action: Tell President Obama it’s time to protect us from
cancer-causing chemicals!

In honor of Cancer Prevention Month, we're working with our friends at Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families to collect 100,000 signatures to show President Obama that we support an overhaul of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).

We support TSCA reform because it will revamp the outdated and ineffective regulations that allow more than 80,000 toxic and cancer-causing chemicals to be added to our clothing, furniture, cosmetics, children’s toys, cleaning products and more.

When you consider these scary facts about cancer, it's clear we can't wait any longer for protection from the harmful toxic chemicals present in the products that we use every day:

  • Every minute, at least one American dies of cancer.
  • According to a 2009 report, 127 North Carolinians are diagnosed with cancer each day.
  • An estimated 40% of North Carolinians will develop cancer in their lifetime.
  • In 2009, 1.5 million American men and women were diagnosed with cancer. 562,000 died from the disease.
  • Cancer is the leading cause of death from disease for children younger than 15.
  • Lung cancer is the leading cause of death among women and breast cancer is the second leading cause.

Join us in writing to President Obama to tell him we want him to stop cancer-causing chemicals! Here’s what the petition says:

President Obama,

Millions of Americans are living with cancer. Millions more are affected by the devastating toll a cancer diagnosis takes on families, communities and workplaces.

Please make it a top priority for your Administration to create a cancer prevention plan that stops the use of cancer-causing chemicals in products used in America every day.

Sincerely,
Your name here
