Resolutions for a Toxic Free 2012

You know how it’s easier to go to the gym if you’ve got a workout buddy? We’re hoping that by sharing our staff’s 2012 New Year’s resolutions, you'll be our buddy and help us keep them. And we want you join us in trying to live healthier, take better care of the environment and get toxic chemicals out of our lives.

Are you in? This year, let's help each other to:

1. Eat more local, organic food.

Wildly Affordable OrganicAn easy way to do this is by joining a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). Now is the time to sign up for a share with your local organic farmer! Here's a link to CSAs in NC - be sure to choose one that's organic.

Think you can’t afford organic food? You might just be surprised. We have some great tips to help you do it.

For more tips about how to eat organic on a budget, check out Linda Watson's book, Wildly Affordable Organic.

Also visit her website, Cook for Good, for recipes, shopping lists and more tips for eating well on a budget.

2. Clean up the Earth by starting at home.

Toxic Free Home Kit ContentsSwitch to homemade or nontoxic home cleaners to keep your home cleaner and greener without harsh chemicals.

Visit our website for cheap and easy home cleaner and pest control recipes, plus tips for ways to clean green in the New Year.

Let us know if you're interested in buying one of our Toxic Free Home Kits, pictured at the left. They're full of lots of great recipes and tips for non-toxic cleaners and pest control!

3. Resolve to take action for chemical reform.

Toddler with Sippy CupRight now there are more than 80,000 chemicals on the market that are present in our children’s toys, cleaning supplies, food and drink containers and other products that we use every day. They end up in our food, water and our bodies. But you can help change that!

This year, resolve to take action for chemical reform. Here's how you can show your support.

Already an email or phone activist? Step it up by resolving to meet in person with your member of Congress. Just let us know if you want to do it, and we’ll help you make it happen.

What are your resolutions for 2012? Email us or post your resolutions on our Facebook page to share them with us. We’d love to hear them!

We’re looking forward to ringing in a healthier, greener New Year with you!

Happy New Year!
