North Carolina's brand new Sustainable Local Food Advisory Council met for the first time on Feb 2nd in Raleigh. The 27-member Council is charged with making recommendations to the NC Department of Agriculture and the General Assembly about how to grow and strengthen North Carolina's sustainable and local food system.
To quote organic farmer John Vollmer, who spoke at the Council's first meeting, "this is not a fad, it's a force," and you all know that's true! Thank you to everyone who contacted their representatives to help Toxic Free NC and our partners at the NC Sustainable Food Systems Coalition advocate for the legislation that created this Council last year. Nice work, folks - we couldn't have done it without you!
