Toxic Free News - Fall 2005

Hola! My name is Alejandra Gómez and I am the newest member of Toxic Free NC’s staff. My husband Antonio and I are originally from Venezuela, and we have been living in North Carolina since 2003. We have been blessed recently with the arrival of our first baby, a beautiful baby girl named Oriana!

As Communications Associate for Toxic Free NC, I am creating a bridge between the organization and North Carolina’s large and growing Latino community. Latino families are often the most directly and seriously affected by pesticide-related health and environmental problems in our state.

A graphic designer by training, I will work on the creation of culturally appropriate bilingual materials that succesfully convey Toxic Free NC’s message of safer alternatives to pesticides, and pesticide reform to Spanish-speaking audiences. Keep an eye out for next Spring’s issue of Toxic Free News - one of my first projects will be to develop a bilingual version of this newsletter, that includes both English and Spanish!
